Dihydrogen Monoxide means H2O. As Hydrogen contains 1 valence electron and Oxygen contains 6 valence electrons, therefore in Dihydrogen Monoxide (H2O) the no. of valence electrons => 2*1 + 6 => 2 + 6 => 8 electrons.
